Mater Misericordiae Hospital was opened in 1962 by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic Order of Nuns originating from Ireland, three years after registering themselves as the Registered Trustees of an entity under the Perpetual Succession Act (the succeeding legislation after independence).

Education Requirement:
- MMED in Anaesthesia and Critical care
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB).
Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years as a Senior Medical Officer
- At least 1 year in a busy thea.
Main Duties:
- Keep abreast with trends, development and utilization of technology in the field of anaesthesia and intensive care medicine on an ongoing basis
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required
- Provide pre and post anaesthetic assessment and care of patients in the hospital
- Work with surgeons to administer anesthetics in a manner that is safe for the procedure being done
- Provide support on management of patients admitted to the ICU in conjunction with Consultants, Registrars, ICU Co-coordinator and other support staff
- Address promptly any concerns raised by patients or their kin in regard to care or treatment given in consultation with the Director Medical Services and other professionals.
