Private sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is Uganda’s apex body for the private sector made up of 230 Business Associations, Corporate bodies and the major Public Sector Agencies that support private sector growth. Since its founding in 1995, PSFU has served as a focal point for private sector advocacy as well as capacity building and continues to sustain a positive dialogue with Government on behalf of the private sector. PSFU is also Government’s implementation partner for several projects and programmes aimed at strengthening the private sector as an engine of economic growth in Uganda.

Education Requirement:

  • The ideal candidate for the Technical Director position must hold a Master’s degree or higher in Sociology, Project Management, Management, International Development, Master of Business Administration or a related field.

Experience Required

  • Previous working experience with international development organizations of repute will be a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience working with NGOs covering multi-sectorial programming, in the field of MEAL.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with field teams during preparation of comprehensive MEAL plans for each Lead Firm Structure project to capture quantitative and qualitative data for project performance tracking and reporting.
  • Represent the organization at National level and promote PSFUs MEAL technical viewpoints, guidelines and mode of operation;
  • Provide inputs for the appraisals of MEAL team and well as contribute to the professional development of team members.
  • Under the guidance of the project director, ensure proper budget follow up for MEAL budget lines per projects and budget planning of MEAL activities.
  • Ensure the setup of appropriate and rigorous MEAL systems to guide project implementation, adjustment, accountability and learning in compliance with both the PSFU as well as the MasterCard Foundation MEAL Guidelines and Minimum Requirements for
  • Develop, review and validate Term of Reference (ToRs) and data collection tools for baseline surveys, needs assessments, mid-term and end of project reviews/evaluations.
  • Track the progress against the four-product model (4PM) that is currently under implementation under the project.
  • Review documentation of project activities with clear articulation of lessons learned, case studies and short articles for each project for internal and external sharing.

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve goals.
  • Excellent teamwork including abilities to coordinate well with diverse individuals and teams and to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve results.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to write clear and engaging reports.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.
  • A deep understanding of the socio-political, economic climate at local, regional, and global levels, with specific focus to youth development issues.
